Invasive Species Technician

 

 

Sublette County Weed and Pest is hiring an Invasive Species Technician. We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and hard working individual with a passion for the outdoors. The technician will directly contribute to a healthier ecosystem for Sublette County by reducing harmful noxious weeds that degrade forage opportunities for mule deer, elk, antelope, sage grouse, and livestock. The technician will work across all land ownerships to control noxious weeds. The applicant can expect to see many different locations around our beautiful county. Working as the invasive species technician opens many doors in the future if you choose to pursue a career in noxious weed control, range land management, agricultural production or wildlife management.

 

Job duties:

  • Noxious weed treatments

  • Using GPS, Avenza, and other tools to plan and treat noxious weeds

  • Operating various vehicles (spray trucks, trailers, UTV’s, ATV’s)

  • Backpack spraying

  • Contacting landowners to plan site visits and treatments

  • EDRR weeds survey and treatments

  • Equipment maintenance 

  • Maintain commercial applicators license through attending educational opportunities

  • Ability to work independently and self motivate.

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Hours:

  • Start date of May 1 - October  31 (weather dependent)

  • 40+ hours a week (weather dependent)

  • Opportunity for overtime 

 

Pay:

  • $20.00/hour starting wage

  • 1.5x hourly rate for overtime hours worked
